Masaryk Academy of Labour - 4th Division of Mechanical and Electrical
Holeček, Vít
The dissertation describes the development, activities as well as the scientific and social contribution of the first Czech (Czechoslovak) technically oriented scientific institution, Masaryk Academy of Labour (MAL), which ranked among the most significant scientific associations of that time. Simultaneously, this scientific and technical institution represents the first institutional establishment of technical sciences in the Czech territory. At the time of the new Czechoslovak Republic, the institution was one of the first Czech scientific institutions which was, together with the Royal Bohemian Society of Sciences and the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts, integrated in the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1952, the predecessor of today's Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The fact that the Masaryk Academy focused on the application of scientific and technical findings in practice is the main source of its significance. This dissertation is devoted to the presentation of the aims and activities of the fourth division of mechanical and electrical engineering of this technical academy.
